Belated Holiday Update

The Fam had a great time together in JC/NYC. We stayed at my son's apartment in Jersey City. Of course, it was somewhat cramped but it was great to be together. (Thanks Neal and Marie for sharing your space with us.) I had one of the most relaxing Christmas days in over 25 years. My son and I made a simple Christmas dinner. We plated up the food and ate at the coffee table/sofa in the living room/kitchen area. We made roasted cornish hens, polenta with mascarpone and parmesan cheese, sauteed kale with shallots and bacon and what started out to be roasted root vegetables ended up as a root vegetable puree. My son per his sister's request also cooked a small beef tenderloin. Everything was very tasty as we drank Champagne and lots of red wine.
On the other days we were there we went into the City and walked, shopped, ate, and drank. We also went to the Metropolitan Museum of Art which was crazy b/c of all of the tourists.

Here are a few photos of the trip. That is my hand with directions to a market to buy mint. However, I didn't go to the market so of course neither did the map. Mr. Red Molly and my daughter went and bought the mint. It was when we went to eat at the restaurant where my son works and they were out of mint. Also, just wanted my son to see that we are enjoying the baby bourbon. Because we spent over $200 at the market near my son's apartment he was the happy recipient of a grocery cart as seen on our way back to the apartment on the light rail. And lastly that is the family photo plus Godiva taken on Christmas day at Liberty Park.

On a very special note we had brunch with my blogging friend buddy don and his wife, miz bd. I was pleasantly surprised when I was given an autographed copy of his new novel shoot the devil. It was very exciting to actually see the book in print as I have read it on his blog and also read the manuscript. You should go to his blog and contact him to get info on how you can purchase the book. shoot the devil delivers an entertaining story of buddy don as he leaves home at the age of 18. The author has written the book in a very readable hillbilly dialect and once you have read the first page you are hooked on hillbilly!
