More About Leaving Home
Tonight my daughter invited her mom, dad and grandmother over for dinner in her new house. She has a friend coming into town tomorrow night and wanted to get us over for dinner before the weekend. We had a very lovely time and it seemed a bit odd going to her house for dinner. Anyone reading my blog regularly will just have to bear with me because I imagine I will be blogging a lot about my daughter and her new home. It's a mom thing. She had her little house somewhat unpacked and it was a great little atmosphere. She made spaghetti with marinara sauce, salad with homemade vinegarette dressing and garlic bread. She bought wine for her mom and grandmother and beer for her dad. She's actually coming back home on the weekend to stay a few days because she is going to get the hardwood floors in her living room and dining room refinished. So I get to go through the leaving home again; having her move out into her own home was very different from when she went away for two years to college. That was like an extended sleepover moving into her newly purchased home is a major milestone and truly leaving home. Actually we are adjusting quite nicely. She's getting new locks and a security system installed this week and then we will feel better about her being out in the big world.
